Who We Are

OrindaVision counts over 800 members of the Orinda community who, as Friends of OrindaVision, share a concern about the future of their downtown and want to see improvement begin.  In addition to these members, OrindaVision is led by a steering committee of citizens listed below.  OrindaVision is not funded by real estate development interests and steering committee members are not affiliated with companies engaged in real estate development.

Tom Trowbridge:

Tom had a 35 year career as a commercial mortgage banker, 14 with James W. Rouse & Company of Columbia, Maryland and 21 years as founder and CEO of Trowbridge, Kieselhorst & Company in San Francisco. 

Peter Hasselman: 

During his 45 year career in architecture and urban planning, Peter has participated in numerous urban planning studies, with issues similar to those of Orinda. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Ian Baird:

Ian spent 17 years with Bechtel in engineering, project management and international project development, followed by 30 years in residential and commercial real estate development in the Bay Area.

Carol Penskar

Carol has an MBA in Finance from the Haas School of Business, and has worked in banking, consulting, and as the chief financial officer for several small companies. She is a long-time member and former Chair of the the City of Orinda Finance Advisory Committee, and is a founding Trustee, Board member and Treasurer of the Orinda Community Foundation.

Michael Kaplan:

Michael is a retired architect formerly with the nationally prominent architectural firm headed by Warren Callister. In addition he was an urban planner, first with the Oakland Redevelopment Agency and later with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency.

David Anderson:

Following 23 years as in-house counsel for PG&E, Dave has been an active volunteer for the Orinda Association, Seniors Around Town, on the committees of the Fix Our Roads and Measure L campaigns and the Strive for Change Foundation.

Ethan Elkind:

After growing up in Orinda and graduating from Brown University and UCLA School of Law, Ethan now researches and writes on environmental and energy law for the Environmental Law Center at UC Berkeley School of Law.  He has returned to live in Orinda with his wife and three young children.

Bob Burt

Bob began his career as a CPA followed by accounting and finance positions with San Francisco and East Bay real estate development firms.  During this time he served as a trustee of Berkeley Repertory Theatre, ending his service there as board president.  In 1992 he joined the external relations team at UC Berkeley and subsequently served as Vice President, University Advancement at Cal State East Bay before retiring in 2011.  He and his wife Karen raised their two children in Orinda where they have lived since 1986.  He is a former member of the City of Orinda’s Finance Advisory Committee.
