Who We Are

OrindaVision counts over 1,000 members of the Orinda community who, as Friends of OrindaVision, share a concern about the future of their downtown and want to see improvement begin.  In addition to these members, OrindaVision is led by a steering committee of citizens listed below.  OrindaVision is not funded by real estate development interests and steering committee members are not affiliated with companies engaged in real estate development.

Tom Trowbridge:

Tom had a 35 year career as a commercial mortgage banker, 14 with James W. Rouse & Company of Columbia, Maryland and 21 years as founder and CEO of Trowbridge, Kieselhorst & Company in San Francisco. 

Peter Hasselman: 

During his 45 year career in architecture and urban planning, Peter has participated in numerous urban planning studies, with issues similar to those of Orinda. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Ian Baird:

Ian spent 17 years with Bechtel in engineering, project management and international project development, followed by 30 years in residential and commercial real estate development in the Bay Area.

Ethan Elkind:

After growing up in Orinda and graduating from Brown University and UCLA School of Law, Ethan now researches and writes on environmental and energy law for the Environmental Law Center at UC Berkeley School of Law.  He has returned to live in Orinda with his wife and three young children.

Bob Burt:

Bob began his career as a CPA followed by accounting and finance positions with San Francisco and East Bay real estate development firms.  During this time he served as a trustee of Berkeley Repertory Theatre, ending his service there as board president.  In 1992 he joined the external relations team at UC Berkeley and subsequently served as Vice President, University Advancement at Cal State East Bay before retiring in 2011.  He and his wife Karen raised their two children in Orinda where they have lived since 1986.  He is a former member of the City of Orinda’s Finance Advisory Committee.

Dennis Fay:

Dennis has over 40 years of experience in the transportation field.  He retired from public service in 2010, having served for nearly 20 years as the Executive Director of what is now called the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC).  Prior to this appointment, Mr. Fay was the Transportation Planning Manager for Alameda County.  He has worked as a project manager for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and for various consulting firms including Kaiser Engineers.  Mr. Fay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University and a master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from MIT.  He and his wife Natalie raised two children.  He is the former chair of Orinda’s Citizens Infrastructure Oversight Commission.

Arran Schultz:

Arran grew up in Orinda watching her mother and grandmother strive to make Orinda a better place through community involvement and hopes to follow in their footsteps.  She attended Vanderbilt University, worked in finance in New York, and has returned to Orinda to raise her three young children.  Arran has begun a second career in landscape design, soon to finish her studies in landscape architecture through Berkeley Extension.  She currently serves on the Orinda Parks & Recreation Commission.
